Aak-Bal

AAK-BAL is an oceanfront site on the western shores of the Yucatan peninsula, a region rich with history and natural beauty. Historic Campeche is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and includes the ancient Mayan city of Calakmul. Asked reposition the property as a world class destination, EDSA approached the task with four pillars - social, cultural, economic and environmental - of sustainability. In conjunction with Mexican environmental engineers a system of interior waterways was created to preserve and enhance the site’s magnificent mangrove forests while providing an idyllic ecolodge setting.

The word AAK-BAL is Mayan for “the source of all things” and appropriately reflects a vibrant and sustainable resort community with a 200 slip marina and village, 18 hole championship Nicklaus golf course, a Nicklaus Bears Club offering luxury golf and marina units, multiple hotel offerings, a spa and numerous clubs situated along 2.5 km of pristine beaches.
