Overview

Atlantis is credited with elevating the themed resort prototype to soaring levels and playing a significant role in reversing the tourism decline in the Bahamas. EDSA’s detail designs and overall “Lost Continent of Atlantis’’ concept has created some of the most innovative and beautiful design solutions in terms of the creation of marine habitats, water features, and water activity areas ever built.

The project implementation relied upon the cooperation of the Bahamian government, local design professionals, and contractors, drawing approximately 75% of its construction work force from local sources. Lush tropical landscaping brings larger-than-life design elements to a more human scale, while the use of native and indigenous plants, restoration of a polluted lagoon, reconstruction of previously eroded dunes, and the utilization of construction materials in a traditional Bahamian vernacular bring harmony to the built and natural environment.

EDSA acted as design team leader and remained responsible for all site planning and detailed design from initial concepts through construction documentation for all phases of development including Royal Towers, Atlantis Marina Village, The Cove, Harborside, Ocean Club Villas and Marina, Ocean Club Golf Course, One and Only Ocean Club, and the Atlantis Marina.
