Destin Harbor

The Boardwalk Improvements created a partnership between private land owners and the public as the proposed improvements were all to be within private property. The ultimate goal is to preserve a public corridor along the harborfront that will serve as a framework for future redevelopment as well as serve the public with an opportunity to visit the harborfront. The design had to take into account the existing uses as well as be flexible enough for future improvements. The Boardwalk Improvements generally include a thirty foot wide corridor of improvements along the harborfront, with certain areas taking more emphasis related to access, use or connectivity. Special attention was put on the details and site furnishing elements to ensure that the distinct character of the harbor would not be lost in a unified design. The result has allowed the majority of land owners and residents to rally around the plan and to partner with the City to move into construction of the project.

EDSA provided conceptual design services through design development as well as construction documentation.
