El Conquistador Resort & Country Club
This renovation involved transforming the existing hotel and casino, which had ceased operations in 1980, into the first mega-resort in the Caribbean. EDSA established a long-range development plan with the client at the project inception in 1989. Completed in 1993, the first phase included a 900-room hotel and casino renovation/expansion, conference center, 18-hole golf course and marina. EDSA’s involvement continued with the addition of a 100,000 square foot meeting space and ballroom, Golden Door Spa, and a state of-the-art waterpark. Each new component has been planned to encompass the overall resort theme while lending its own unique character. These new phases have served to continue the success and goals of the client set forth from the beginning and accomplish all of their goals.
EDSA was the prime consultant in charge of the design team, providing master planning through detailed design and construction observation services. EDSA also created the resort logo, completed the signage program, and produced marketing exhibits for its hilltop village, Las Casitas.
