The Urban Land Institute (ULI) is a worldwide non-profit, multidisciplinary, real estate research and education organization. Their inaugural Vision Awards honor individuals and companies from Southeast Florida and Puerto Rico that exemplify the mission of ULI by demonstrating a proactive commitment to the real estate profession and our communities.

International planning and landscape architecture firm EDSA has recently received a prestigious award from the American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA). EDSA’s submission, Crosswaters Ecolodge, was one of only 32 winners selected by the jury out of 500 national and international entries. The project is part of the first planned ecotourism and ecolodge destination in China and is located in Nankun Mountain Reserve, Guangdong Province, S. China. The Crosswaters Ecolodge was bestowed the Award of Honor in the Analysis and Planning Category.
EDSA has been commissioned by the City of Oakland Park, Florida to create an ordinance that will serve as a catalyst for redevelopment along two main arterial roadways within the City. Underutilized property and elevated vacancy has resulted in adverse conditions for the area. EDSA is working to develop a zoning regulation that brings mixed-use, neighborhood compatible and quality redevelopment that provides increased opportunities for property owners and developers. Combining urban design with environmental advocacy, EDSA is recommending an incentive regulation that simultaneously achieves economic gains and environmental sustainability through the promotion of Green Building development. EDSA’s goal is to promote sustainable practices that add value to the district and create a unique identity for the City of Oakland Park.
