ECOTOURISM CAN BE GOOD FOR THE BOTTOM LINE
While traditional
tourism overall has been growing at an annual rate of 4%, ecotourism
is growing at a rate of 30%, according to The International Ecotourism
Society. "As a developer you could get good return of your investment
by building a 300-room traditional resort, but you may end up compromising
the same environment that your guests have come to enjoy through the
use of non-renewable sources of energy, waste and water pollution, soil
erosion and noise pollution," says Hitesh Mehta, of EDSA
and one of the world's leading authorities on ecotourism. |

MARINA PROJECTS HOT FOR LEADING INTERNATIONAL PLANNING AND DESIGN FIRM
David Armbruster, boater and veteran
principal of leading, Florida-based planning and design firm, EDSA,
loves his work. And much of that lately has revolved around marinas.
"In the U.S., we're helping renovate existing marinas," he
said. "Not only have the boats gotten longer and wider than ever
before, necessitating all new slips and vastly improved power and other
systems, the land side facilities are often inadequate. Today's boaters
expect more than just a store and a parking lot!"
