Dear friends and colleagues,

More than 60 years ago, Edward D. Stone Jr. formed EDSA and in doing so, changed the profession of planning and landscape architecture – permanently and completely. Among his many attributes, Ed possessed an ability to recognize untapped talent and an individual’s full potential, which allowed him to assemble a truly amazing team that built a globally recognized practice.

Today, I am proud to share that EDSA has come to a place where we begin the next exciting chapter in our history – a place where we leverage the best of our talents and focus our efforts towards greater heights as a company of excellence. We believe in the creativity of our people, the vision of our steadfast clients and our innate spirit for unbounded enthusiasm and freedom to imagine.

Building upon our legacy, I am pleased to announce the promotion of Scott LaMont to Chief Executive Officer. A 24-year veteran of EDSA, Scott will now take responsibility for setting the tone of a firmwide culture and growth strategy. Possessing a collaborative leadership style and proven track record in leading multiple teams, projects and strategic initiatives, Scott is committed to the exploration of sustainable, modern ideals and fostering values which positively personify humanity. Scott has successfully managed hundreds of assignments across the globe – ensuring a balanced union of superior design quality and pragmatic business outcomes.

Strengthening organizational cohesion and innovation, I am pleased to announce that Eric Propes has been promoted to Chief Operating Officer. Bringing together his passion for creativity, technology, sustainability and strategy, Eric continuously challenges the status quo by exploring pioneering ideas and creative solutions that emphasize exceptional project outcomes. In his new position, Eric will apply his professional insights to leverage internal processes that improve efficiencies across the design-delivery continuum, including oversight of our virtual design and construction team.

In our forward-thinking strategy, now is the right time to pass the torch. No words can express how sincerely grateful I am for the privilege of having served as President of EDSA for the past nine years. I am incredibly proud of our team and their abilities as problem solvers and critical thinkers in offering innovative and sensitive solutions that contribute to an improved quality of life for people around the world. Going forward, I will play a vital role in our evolution, recommitting my energies to a passion for design and the reason I became a landscape architect.

Our path ahead is filled with endless possibilities. I am confident the best years lie before us and that we will continue to make EDSA and the projects we touch magical places. This is our legacy – it is who we are and what we are made of.

Thank you again for your support over the years. I so enjoy working with people that are spectacularly talented and unstoppably optimistic. More than ever, I am energized and excited for our future!
